Why Everyone Loves the mina perhonen “balle” — Will This Popular 2024 Brooch Return in 2025?

What Is the “balle” Brooch?

Introduced in the Autumn/Winter 2024 collection,
the “balle” is a wool brooch shaped like a small, rounded ornament.
“Something this charming, from mina?”
“And at such an accessible price?”
It quickly became a much-loved piece, drawing attention from the very beginning.

Will the “balle” brooch be released again in 2025?

Yes—there will be a release under the product codes ADA7732 and ADA7733.

(Regarding the product code: “AD” indicates 2025, and “A” refers to the Autumn/Winter season.)

It often feels that select shops carrying mina perhonen release items earlier than the official online store.

I placed a reservation in August at Caz et Deux Mi (Kobe), and received mine in October.
I’ve also heard from a fellow mina enthusiast that they purchased theirs at pieni・huone (Kakuozan).

Each time, I find myself thinking, “If I don’t buy it now, I might miss the chance,”
and end up rushing to purchase it at a select shop.

But with the added shipping costs,
I’d really prefer to purchase from a mina perhonen store or their official online shop whenever possible.

Are There More Color Variations for the 2025 “balle”?
What About the Price and Size?

The “balle” brooch to be released in the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection
was already rumored to come in a wide range of colors even before its release.

Let’s take a closer look.

[Color Variations]

ADA7732 — available in three colors: white, black mix, and gray.
The color names refer to the round body of the brooch.
The black mix is a new design not seen in 2024, featuring a half-white, half-black combination—quite striking.

ADA7733 — available in two colors: light pink and navy.

Then I found myself thinking, “Wasn’t there a yellow one as well…?”
After looking into it, I came across yellow and yellow mix (a half-yellow, half-gray design) on ELLE Online—
though they were already sold out, leaving only a trace behind.

It’s amazing—seven color variations in total is quite a surprise.

Changing them to match your outfit or scarf
feels like it could make winter outings all the more enjoyable.

[Price]
The price is the same for all colors: ¥3,300 (tax included).

At mina perhonen, there are very few items available at this price point—
perhaps only kitchen towels, hand towels, or socks come to mind.

This approachable price is surely one of the reasons why “balle” has become so popular.

[Size]
The brooch is available in one size.

As for the detailed measurements, it is approximately 13 cm × 6.5 cm or 13 cm × 7 cm,
though the listed dimensions seem to vary slightly depending on the site.

I also measured the pieces I have at home,
and found that their sizes varied as well—
which made those differing size listings feel quite understandable.

Is there a difference between ADA7732 and ADA7733?

For this release, the “balle” brooch is divided into two product codes—ADA7732 and ADA7733.
Let’s take a closer look at what sets them apart.

On the left is the gray from ADA7732,
and on the right is the light pink from ADA7733.

Each piece features a forest parade motif that matches the color of the body.
(The motif is not removable.)

These were purchased by a staff member from the mina perhonen online store on separate dates
(according to confirmed information, online releases took place on September 20 and October 18, 2025).

At the mina perhonen online store, purchases are limited to one item per person
(and it is not possible to buy multiple colors).

However, since ADA7732 and ADA7733 have different product codes,
it was possible to purchase one of each.

What caught my attention most was that they were somehow taken out of their plastic packaging—
(a small detail, but surprisingly striking).*

At first, I assumed that the person who purchased it had taken it out of the plastic for storage.
But when I asked more closely, I learned that it actually came inside the familiar paper bag,
along with a cut tag and the brooch itself.

I can’t help but wonder why…

It was meant to be a gift for a friend who loves mina,
but without the original packaging, it somehow feels a little less presentable—
so it seems they may choose something else instead.

Let’s set that aside for a moment and take a closer look.

On the right is the gray from ADA7732,
and on the left is the light pink from ADA7733
(both referring to the color of the body).

They look incredibly similar—almost indistinguishable at first glance.
Both are made of 100% wool.

And yet, when you look closely—when you touch them—something feels different.

The gray has a soft, slightly fuzzy texture, gently brushed.
The light pink, on the other hand, feels more like a pom-pom you might find at the end of a child’s scarf—
as if it were roughly cut with scissors, a little uneven, a little tousled… for better or for worse.

The gray feels suited to more refined outfits,
while the light pink leans toward a more casual style.

This one was reserved and purchased at Caz et Deux Mi,
and it came properly packaged in a plastic bag.

Indeed, the white from ADA7732 feels soft and gently fuzzy, with a slightly brushed texture.
Meanwhile, the navy from ADA7733—on the right—has a more tousled finish, almost like a child’s pom-pom. (Not the most elegant way to put it, I know.)

The back is finished beautifully—
as expected of mina, a design that reflects their thoughtful attention to detail.

I took this photo together with a scarf I’ve been using and loving, purchased at a mina perhonen store.

I’ll add the product name once I confirm it,
but I believe the color was called “wheat.”
(It means flour, doesn’t it?)

The fringes curl softly, which makes it especially charming,
and the texture is so pleasant—I’ve been treasuring it ever since.

How did you find it?

This time, I hoped to create a piece for those who have been wondering—what exactly is the mina perhonen “balle”?

I’ll continue to share more little reflections,
so I would be happy if you visit Harunire again.
