Did you know that minä perhonen actually offers a wide variety of denim?
My own “minä denim debut” was a pair I bought at Isetan after trying on many different styles.

Naming varies by the “Denim Fabric” used!
I never noticed this at all!
So they have different names based on the “denim fabric.” The fabrics are divided into three types: 【always】, 【every day】, and 【fête】!
【always】
minä perhonen’s signature denim.
Made with 14 oz denim fabric. (Ounce is a unit of weight. Standard denim is usually around 13 oz.)
【every day】
Made with 10 oz fabric, which is thinner than 【always】. Because they are lightweight and easy to move in, many “minä friends” get addicted, saying, “I could wear these every day!” (The name is perfectly fitting!)
【fête（フェテ）】
Made with 10.5 oz denim—slightly heavier than 【every day】—and features all-over flocky printing.
The flocky print on “fête” peels away slightly as you wear it, so you could say it’s a denim that “grows” uniquely for each person. Since it has a fuzzy texture, I personally recommend it for any season except summer.
(Flocky printing is a bit hard to explain, but it refers to a printing process that creates a slightly fuzzy, felt-like texture. It feels like the skin of Sylvanian Families figures! ^^)

Further divided by “Design (Shape).” What shapes are available?
Tapered
Characterized by narrowing from the thighs toward the hem. This silhouette makes the legs look beautiful. A length that slightly reveals the ankles is very stylish ✨
Roll-up
Specifically designed to be worn rolled up. (The minä perhonen roll-up has a unique, rounded design!) Neither too thin nor too thick. The balance is exquisite—you’ll definitely find yourself wearing these on repeat!
Wide-leg (Balloon Wide)
Characterized by a wide silhouette that maintains almost the same width from the thighs to the hem.
Straight
Characterized by a clean, sleek silhouette with no roundedness from the thighs to the hem. (The hem is slightly narrower, and the length is on the longer side.)
Tucked Tapered
Characterized by a three-dimensional wide silhouette with tucks at the waist and knees, narrowing toward the hem.
Tucked Short Pants
Characterized by a rounded silhouette and a length that sits above the knee. The darts near the hem create a distinct, three-dimensional roundness. (Darts are small, wedge-shaped folds sewn into the fabric to transform a flat piece of cloth into a three-dimensional shape.)

Color Options
The denim is primarily available in two base colors: Indigo and Blue. (White was available in the past, but it is currently difficult to find in stores or online.)
indigo
Features a deep blue hue that beautifully highlights the white stitching down to the thighs.
Comes with a classic brown leather patch.
The red “selvedge” visible when rolled up adds a stylish and playful touch!
blue
Features a light blue wash that looks like your favorite pair worn for years.
The shade is lighter than “Indigo,” giving it a more relaxed and casual vibe. Comes with a beige leather patch.
The selvedge visible when rolled up is pink! It perfectly matches the soft blue tone and looks so cute! ^^
Exciting news! A new “Light Blue” color has also been released. ^^ (As of February 6, 2025, the “always” roll-up denim in this color is available at Cas-et-Demi.) From what I’ve seen in photos, it’s a beautiful, bright color—perfect for the spring season!

The “fête” denim features an all-over flocky print, available in three distinct colors.

A bold camel with a warm, golden-yellow undertone. This striking piece can look either sweet or sharp depending on how you style it!

A subtle grey with warm brown undertones. This exquisite shade is absolutely adorable! Since it’s not a stark, cool grey, it pairs perfectly with warm-toned outfits.
black
The white stitching really pops against the black fabric! ☆
Black goes with everything, making it a guaranteed wardrobe staple.
This color is highly recommended for those who prioritize versatility and a slimming look. ^^

The waist features “mermaid,” one of minä perhonen’s most popular textiles.
Each and every button is engraved with a delicate butterfly.
The combination of white stitching and the brown leather patch is just too cute!
