Little by little, warmer days are becoming more frequent, and during the day it can feel warm enough to break a light sweat.
Yet once the sun sets, there is still a chill in the air—it’s a delicate season when choosing what to wear can be a quiet dilemma.

Today, we introduce the “hanakaze” skirt—perfect for this in-between season, a piece that feels light and uplifting the moment you wear it.

The Appeal of mina perhonen “hanakaze”

The “hanakaze” textile made its debut in the Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
From the very beginning, it drew quiet attention—becoming, without exaggeration, one of the central textiles of the season.

It is a depiction of wildflowers, with the wind quietly passing through—
a textile that holds not only the flowers, but the wind itself.
To draw the wind… there is a quiet, lingering beauty in that.

It was offered in light, refreshing shades like white and yellow,
yet I found myself drawn, as always, to the deeper tone of navy.
(If I recall, a soft khaki was also available in the kids’ line.)

What about sizing for “hanakaze”?

The skirt is available in three sizes: 36, 38, and 40.

I chose the middle size, 38,
which measures approximately 70 cm at the waist and 81 cm in length.

On my height of 151 cm, it falls just above the ankles, with a slight glimpse of them—giving it a maxi-length silhouette.

Thanks to the airy, lightweight fabric of “hanakaze,” the maxi length never feels heavy.
I especially love how it catches the spring breeze and sways so beautifully.

Even on a petite frame, balance comes naturally when the top is kept compact.
A touch of height from platform sneakers, or shoes that reveal the top of the foot, brings a quiet sense of lightness to the steps.

mina perhonen skirts can vary quite a bit in how they fit, depending on the design, and the labeled size doesn’t always match the feel when worn.
This one, however, truly feels like a 70 cm waist.

The front is finished with a ribbon tie, while the back has elastic gathers, allowing for a comfortable fit.
Depending on your body type, tucking in a shirt can also create a clean, balanced look.

From every angle, the “hanakaze” textile reveals itself—something to be enjoyed from all sides.

The Secret Behind the Lining —
Why Cupro Is Chosen to Preserve Its Beauty

The outer fabric is made of 100% cotton.
For the lining that touches the skin, a luxurious cupro is used.

In choosing cupro for the lining, you can sense mina perhonen’s quiet dedication to detail.
Born from natural cotton, cupro holds moisture well and resists static.
With each step, it moves freely—never clinging to the skin, allowing for a gentle ease.

In fact, this resistance to static reaches beyond inner comfort—
it quietly protects the beauty of the outer textile as well.

Without static, it no longer draws in dust or pollen like a magnet.
It gently protects the delicate relief of “hanakaze,” keeping its fine embroidery clear of gathered dust.

From the unseen inside, it quietly devotes itself to protecting the beauty on the surface.

Because it is a piece I wish to cherish over time,
it is this gentle care, hidden in the unseen places, that feels most precious to me.

From Sneakers to Formal —
Versatile Styling that Carries the Spring Breeze

A softly spreading silhouette, and a quiet lightness at the feet—
together, they hold the secret to its airy feel, even in a maxi length.

Like the model, pairing sneakers with a maxi skirt creates a relaxed, casual look that feels just right for now.

In contrast, paired with pumps, tights, and a crisp white shirt, it takes on a quietly dignified expression.
A piece with a generous depth—able to accompany formal moments, or days when you wish to stand just a little taller.
How did it feel?

The “hanakaze” skirt—
a piece that seems to hold the wind itself.
With each step, it gathers the light and breeze of spring, gently—
like something I carry close, a quiet talisman.

Beyond the delicate beauty of its embroidery lies a careful choice of materials, and a design shaped for ease in movement.
With each detail I come to understand, the time I spend with this skirt feels all the more precious.

On days of light steps in sneakers, and on days when you stand a little taller in pumps—
perhaps you, too, might step out wrapped in a piece you love,
and find your own spring breeze.
